Abstract: The principle and method for dynamic system identification of regulation gate (valve) characteristics in water diversion projects were studied. The mathematical model of the dynamic system identification of the gate characteristics was suggested. At first, the nonlinear mathematical model of the gate characteristics was converted to the proposed linear model by mathematical transformation, and then the least-square method was used to overcome the influence of measurement random error in identification. Based on the measured data in laboratory, the validity of the proposed theory and method was verified.
