Analysis on water cycle factors of Jiefangzha Irrigation Area in Hetao Irrigation District in Inner Mongolia based on runoff-evaporation hydrological model for arid plain oasis

Abstract: Taking Jiefangzha irrigation area in Hetao Irrigation District as an example, the runoff-evaporation hydrological model for arid plain oasis was used to simulate the water cycle factors and analyze the characters of water cycle and water consumption. Results indicate that the main water supply was from the Yellow River, and the main water consumption was evapotranspiration. The groundwater recharge was mainly canal leakage. Therefore, the lining of irrigation channels should be strengthened to improve water efficiency of canal system. The water consumption decreased if the water supply was decreased. And among the water consumption, evapotranspiration was sensitive to water supply, therefore the ecological and physiological water requirement of crop should be fully considered when water-saving improvement projects were executed.
