Abstract: In recent years, the digital monitoring is being increasingly applied to the construction of super high arch dam. Adopting the advanced monitoring equipment, data in construction, impoundment and operation period, such as displacement, temperature and so on, are obtained in real-time. After arrangement, the data can be utilized in the computational inverse analysis of material parameters of dam and dam foundation, which provide the basis for carrying on the whole course feedback simulation of dam. In this paper, based on the reinforcement project of Hengshan dam and by using the advanced borehole dilatometer, a number of experiments were implemented in soft slip layers of the left bank of Hengshan, by which the elastic modulus E, the friction coefficient f and the cohesion coefficient c in rock layers can be output via the FEM inversion calculation.

Key words: super high arch dam, borehole dilatometer, soft slip layer, inversion calculation
