Abstract: Based on Remote Sensing, this article acquired Land Use and Cover Change (LUCC) information of the area hit severely by Wenchuan Earthquake before and after the big earthquake in 2008, as well as in 2010, under stepwise supervised classification. The statistics results indicated that, the big earthquake damaged the vegetative cover greatly. It reduced the area of forest, increased the area of exposed soil area in steep mountain area, and turned forest into grassland. Until March of 2010, the land use of the area had obviously recovered. The area of forest, as well as the area of cropland and cities, had increased.
