Abstract: The water power infiltration and sabotage of interlayer crack have a great impact on the working performance of arch dam. In the current paper, combined with an interlayer crack in a 300m-level arch dam, the open-close, sliding and expansion of joints are solved to analyze the water power infiltration stability of the interlayer crack based on the nonlinear iterative method. The results show that if only taking into account the dead weight and the water pressure, the crack is likely to extend upstream and it is difficult to extend downstream. The crack propagation is of low sensitivity for the fracture toughness of concrete, however, showing high sensitive for bond strength after treatment. The loads of temperature can increase the risk of crack propagation, with the conditions of normal load, the crack has little effort on the state of stresses and displacements in arch dam, but has impact on the local area. It will reduce the possibility of the crack propagation slightly when the rock foundation of bank slope is harder than riverbed.
