Methodology of water-use efficiency assessment for thermal power plant based on the function of water

Abstract: The thermal power plant is a major water user of industrial water in China. For the sake of national industrial water saving, a new methodology of water-use efficiency assessment for the thermal power plant is proposed on the consideration of the limitations of the existing indicators. The new methodology, which has a physical mechanism, is based on the basic physical and chemical properties of water and the analysis of water ’ s function in the production processes of thermal power plants. The proposed methodology is applied to a case study, which shows the new methodology has a promising application.
