Monitoring and Analyzing System for Moisture and Salinity of Soil in Arid and Semi-arid Areas
Time: 2015-02-12 | Hits:

A state-sponsored program on monitoring and analyzing system for moisture and salinity of soil in arid and semi-arid areas, undertaken by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage of IWHR, has been completed and examined recently.

The project team, focusing on Hetao irrigation district in Nei Mongol, has conducted evaluation and feasibility studies on the introduction of technologies and facilities, and established a model and created a method for monitoring and forecast of soil moisture and salinity in arid and semi-arid areas in China, making the real-time monitoring more convenient and efficient, demonstrating a good application result.

The system offers an effective approach to improve the moisture and salinity forecasting and precise regulation of the saline-alkaline farmland in Hetao irrigation district, which shows great application prospects and social-economic and environmental benefits.
